FAQs

Is weight gain really a part of aging?

Yes, it is a natural process as our body ages, our composition changes. But that does not mean we cannot adapt to lose weight. For many women who have risen to the high of their career, weight loss continues to elude them.  But redefining your relationship to food is the first step. Working with a dietitian who specializes in woman’s heath will lead to success.

Should I be giving up carbs?

Absolutely not, who can live without carbs. Carbohydrates provide use with the glucose we need to feed our cells. Any excess is stored in our liver for later. If we are not giving our body the carbs we need, our liver will continue to spill glucose into our blood raising our blood glucose. This upsets in the endocrine systems leading to further hormone imbalances. So, enjoy your carbs, complex carbs are best, they are an excellent form of fibre.

Is there such a thing as a healthy fat?

Not all fats are created equally, and that is the secret, how they are created. It is the artificial trans fats and saturated fats that build up in our arteries and lead to an increased risk of certain diseases. But healthy fats such as unsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids reduce the risk of certain diseases, therefore having the opposite effect. Healthy fats also improve mood and brain function.
