Working Together
We all deserve to live well
In our culture, the word ‘diet’ is associated with weight loss when it comes from the Greek ‘diata’ meaning ‘to live well’. We all deserve to live well.
Adjusting your health goals to match your stage of life makes sense. Before menopause, a woman’s body makes sufficient estrogen to maintain healthy cholesterol levels. As Estrogen production slows down, the risk of heart disease raises. Maintaining a healthy diet that allows for some wine and cheese is enjoyable and sustainable.
You might be reaching out to me for sports nutrition support as you plan to run your first marathon. Active aging requires physical strength and increased muscle mass. After menopause, women are at an increased risk of osteoporosis. Enough bone-building calcium and vitamin D might just mean an additional café latte a day.
Your goal may be to lower your blood sugar or your blood pressure, have more energy or to simply prepare for the next stage of your life. Working with me one-on-one will keep your spirits high and motivate you to make long term changes.

Changing your relationship with food
This takes time, you have spent years developing your feelings about foods and eating patterns, entrenching certain eating patterns and habits. To redefine your relationship with food, I recommend a commitment of three months. During our consultations you will learn to recognize your personal triggers for disordered eating. You will come to understand these patterns and how to better respond. I will teach you how to eat intuitively, making intentional choices that result in a sense of empowerment. Learning to understand your body’s needs and gauge your hunger level will lead to greater satiety and increased energy. Your endocrine system will rebalance and food craving will become manageable; your mood will improve. Years of disordered eating often leads to anxiety and depression. Trust me on this, I can help.
Managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS, is a condition disrupting the digestive system when sensitivity to the nerves in the digestive tract increases. Usually, it’s diagnosed in woman at mid-life. Symptoms, which come in waves lasting days or even months, include stomach cramping, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. Studies have shown that 75% of people living with IBS are able to get relief by following a Low FODMAP diet. FODMAP being an acronym for the six types of carbohydrates that can cause digestive upset. You don’t need to avoid all carbohydrates, just some that are found in some foods. As we work together, I will teach you how to identify these foods. Effectively managing IBS is a three-phase approach, starting with eliminating certain foods, reintroduction and finally reintegration. Getting the optimal nutrition from your diet while following the low FODMAP is a very personalized journey, based on your food preferences as you progress through the three phases. After my initial assessment I will suggest an appropriate schedule of appointments.
Managing Inflammation
If you live with a condition causing inflammation, its symptoms can be exasperated by dietary choices. These conditions include arthritis, psoriasis, and asthenia to name a few. Following an anti-inflammatory diet will diminish symptoms and slow the progression of many inflammatory diseases. In fact, an anti-inflammatory diet can greatly improve brain health and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Eating a variety of foods chocked full of anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants and polyphenols will also improve the immune system. Working together, I will initially complete an analysis of your current diet and make some immediate recommendations. Along our path, I will introduce you to novel ideas based on your food preferences and together we will build your diet plan. Once you have learned to manage your health you will be set for life. This is a very personalize process and duration scheduled appointments will vary.
